- Clean the parts in solvent.
- Blow dry the parts with compressed air.
- Inspect the valve rocker arms and balls at the mating surfaces.
These surfaces should be smooth and free from scoring or other damage.
- Inspect the valve rocker arm areas that contact the valve stems
and the sockets that contact the valve pushrods.
These areas should be smooth and free of damage and wear.
- Inspect the valve rocker arm bolts for signs of cracking at the
bolt shoulder. Replace as necessary.
- Check the valve pushrods for bending. Roll the valve pushrod on
a flat surface in order to determine if it is bent. Replace as necessary.
- Check the ends of the valve pushrods for scoring or roughness.
- Check the valve pushrod oil passage for restrictions.
