Removal Procedure
Tools Required
- Remove the valve rocker arms. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
.
- Remove the spark plug at the cylinder to be serviced. Refer to
Spark Plug Replacement in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the valve keys using the following procedure:
3.1. | Install the J 23590
into the spark plug hole. |
3.2. | Apply compressed air in order to hold the valves in place. |
3.3. | Install a valve rocker arm nut. |
3.4. | Compress the valve spring using the J 5892-D
. |
3.5. | Remove the valve keys. |
3.6. | Carefully relieve the valve spring tension. |
- Remove the cap and the spring.
- Remove the valve seal.
Installation Procedure
Tools Required
- Install a new seal. Install the seal over the valve stem and seat
it against the head.
- Install the spring and the cap.
- Install the valve keys using the following procedure:
3.1. | With air pressure applied to the cylinder using J 22794
, compress the valve spring with J 5892-D
. |
3.2. | Install the valve keys. Use grease in order to hold them in place,
if necessary. |
3.3. | Carefully release the valve spring pressure. Make sure the valve
keys stay in place. |
- Install the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Install the valve rocker arms. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
.
- Adjust the valves. Refer to
Valve Lash Adjustment
.
- Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
