Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 5802-A Valve Rocker
Arm Stud Remover
- Remove the valve rocker arm. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
.
- Remove the valve rocker arm stud using the following procedure:
2.1. | Place the J 5802-A
over the valve rocker arm stud. |
2.2. | Install a nut and flat washer. |
2.3. | Turn the nut in order to remove the stud. |
Installation Procedure

0.0762 mm (0.003 in) oversize |
• | J 6036 Reamer
0.3302 mm (0.013 in) oversize |
• | J 6880 Valve

Notice: Do not attempt to Install an oversize valve rocker arm stud without
reaming the stud hole as this could damage the cylinder head.
- Ream the hole to the proper size for the replacement oversize valve rocker
arm stud. Use the J 6036
for 0.0762 mm (0.003 in) oversize studs, or the J 6036
for 0.3302 mm (0.013 in)
oversize studs.
- Coat the lower end (press-fit area) of the valve rocker arm stud
with hypoid axle lubricant.
- Install the valve rocker arm stud. Use the J 6880
. The stud is installed to the proper depth when the tool bottoms
on the cylinder head.
- Install the valve rocker arm. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
.
- Adjust the valves. Refer to
Valve Lash Adjustment
.
- Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
