Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 71684  Size: SH
  1. Remove the surge tank hose clamp and the hose at the radiator overflow fitting.
  2. Remove the surge tank retaining bolt.
  3. Remove the surge tank from the cowl tabs.
  4. Remove the surge tank from the vehicle.
  5. Clean the surge tank with soap and water.
  6. Rinse the surge tank with clean water.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 71684  Size: SH
  1. Install the surge tank to the cowl tabs.
  2. Install the surge tank retaining bolt.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the surge tank hose clamp and the hose at the radiator overflow fitting.
  5. Fill the surge tank with coolant to the proper level. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
