  1. Disconnect the transmission 20-way connector.
  2. Install the J 39775 Jumper Harness on the transmission side of the 20-way connector.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Using the J 39200 DVOM and the J 35616-A Connector Test Adapter Kit, measure the resistance between the ground and each terminal N, R, and P.
  5. Move the gear selector through each gear range.

Does the resistance match the chart?

Refer to the Pressure Switch Assembly Resistance Table found in Electronic Component Description

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 7

3

  1. Turn the iginition Off
  2. Install the J 39775 on the engine side of the 20-way connector.
  3. Measure the resistance between the ground and each of the engine wiring harness terminals N, R, and P.

Was low resistance measured?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Automatic Transmission Internal Wiring Harness Check

4

  1. Disconnect the C3 (clear) VCM connector.
  2. Recheck the resistance of the vehicle wiring harness from ground to the transmission connector terminals N, R, and P.

Was low resistance measured?

7

Does the resistance measure low when the chart indicates high?

--

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 10

8

  1. Remove the transmission bottom pan.
  2. Check the resistance at the transmission 20-way connector terminals while wiggling the internal transmission harness wires to the TFP VAL POSITION SW.

Does the resistance indicate low?

--

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 13

9

Recheck the resistance with the TFP VAL POSITION SW disconnected from the transmission internal wiring harness.

Does the resistance go from low to high?

--
