FRT. AXLE VENT HOSE LEAK (REVISED CONNECTOR RELEASED)

SUBJECT: FRONT AXLE VENT HOSE CONNECTOR LEAK (REPLACE VENT HOSE CONNECTOR)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991 Kl, K2, K3 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Owners of some 1988-91 Kl, K2, K3 trucks may experience a leak at the front axle vent hose connector (54, Figure 1). This leak usually occurs at the threads of the front axle vent hose connector.

This leak may be caused by inadequate sealer applied to the vent connector threads and relaxation or shrinkage of the vent connector material.

This leak may be corrected by replacing the vent hose connector with a revised connector featuring an o-ring seal.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

Remove Refer to Figure 1

1. Front axle skid plate (if equipped).

2. Clamp (52).

3. Hose (53) from the vent connector.

4. Vent hose connector (54).

Install Refer to Figure 1

1. New vent hose connector (54).

- Torque to 13 N.m (10 ft.lbs.). - Sealer is NOT required or recommended.

2. Hose (53) to the vent connector.

3. Clamp (52).

4. Front axle skid plate (if equipped).
