DRIVE LINE SHUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP

SUBJECT: DRIVE LINE SHUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP (REPLACE REAR SPRINGS AND U-BOLTS)

MODELS: 1994-96 CHEVROLET AND GMC K1, EXTENDED CAB, 8 FT. BOX MODELS WITH TURBO DIESEL ENGINE (VIN S - RPO L56)

CONDITION:

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY REPORT A DRIVE LINE SHUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP.

CAUSE:

THE PROP SHAFT SLIP YOKE SPLINES LOCK DUE TO REAR SPRING WIND UP.

CORRECTION:

STIFFER (HIGHER LOAD RATED) REAR SPRINGS WILL HELP TO RESIST THE WIND UP AFFECT. REPLACE THE REAR SPRINGS AND U-BOLTS WITH THE PARTS LISTED BELOW.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION 3D, REAR SUSPENSION, OF THE APPROPRIATE YEAR C/K TRUCK SERVICE MANUAL.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT REUSE THE ORIGINAL U-BOLTS.
