Catalytic Converter Replacement RH C/K 2 Suburban 5.7L/7.4L
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the oxygen sensor electrical connection(s).
- Remove the nuts and the flange gaskets from the Y-pipe flat flange.
- Remove the nuts and the washers from the Y-pipe flat flange.
- Remove the Y-pipe and the three-way catalytic converter assembly.
- Remove the muffler and the three-way catalytic converter assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the muffler and the three-way
catalytic converter assembly.
- Install the Y-pipe and the three-way catalytic converter assembly.
- Install the washers and the nuts to the Y-pipe flat flange.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the flange gaskets and the nuts to the exhaust manifold.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).
- Install the electrical connection(s).
- Check for clearance and alignment
- Lower the vehicle.
