Close Couple Converter Single Converter 4.3L/5.0L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 72706  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Remove the oxygen sensor electrical connections.
  3. Remove the nuts and the flange gaskets from the Y-pipe and the exhaust manifold.
  4. Remove the nuts and washers from the Y-pipe flat flange.
  5. Remove the Y-pipe and the catalytic converter assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 72706  Size: SH
  1. Position the Y-pipe and the catalytic converter assembly to the flat flange.
  2. Attach the washers and the nuts to the flat flange studs.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 48 N·m (48 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Attach the flange gaskets and nuts to the exhaust manifold.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).

  6. Attach the oxygen sensor electrical connections.
  7. Check for clearance and alignment.
  8. Lower the vehicle

Close Couple Converter Dual Converter 5.7L

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Remove the oxygen sensor electrical connections.
  3. Remove the nuts and the flange gaskets from the Y-pipe and the exhaust manifold.
  4. Remove the nuts and washers from the Y-pipe flat flange.
  5. Remove the Y-pipe and the catalytic converter assembly.

  4. Remove the nuts and washers from the Y-pipe flat flange.
