Rear Housing Disassemble NV4500

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 100843  Size: SH
  1. Remove the extension oil seal from the extension housing. Use a small pry bar.

  2. Object Number: 100846  Size: SH
  3. Remove the following parts:
  4. 2.1. The bearing retainer ring/snap ring
    2.2. The bearing from the extension housing

Tools Required

    • Hydraulic Press
    • J 23907 Slide Hammer with Pilot Bearing Puller

    Object Number: 4845  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear housing shift shaft bearing. Use tool J 23907 with a suitable pilot bearing puller.
  2. • Install the puller legs behind the bearing lip.
    • If the bearing lip breaks off, install the puller legs behind the inside (outer end) bearing lip.

  3. Drive out 2 dowel pins.

  4. Object Number: 4847  Size: SH
  5. Remove the following components:
  6. 3.1. 3 bolts
    3.2. The output shaft bearing retainer

    Object Number: 4848  Size: SH
  7. Remove the output shaft bearing assembly. Use a brass drift.
  8. Remove the gasket material from the housing. Use liquid gasket remover.

Tools Required

    • Hydraulic Press
    • J 23907 Slide Hammer with Pilot Bearing Remover
    • J 26941 Output Shaft Oil Seal Remover

    Object Number: 4845  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear housing shift shaft bearing. Use tool J 23907 with a suitable pilot bearing puller.
  2. • Install the puller legs behind the bearing lip.
    • If the bearing lip breaks off, install the puller legs behind the inside (outer end) bearing lip.

    Object Number: 4849  Size: SH
  3. Remove the slip yoke seal. Use tool J 26941 and tool J 23907 .
  4. Remove the gasket material from the housing. Use a liquid gasket remover.
