1996 CHEVROLET AND GMC LIGHT DUTY MODELS 1996 OLDSMOBILE BRAVADA
THE ABOVE 1996 MODELS NO LONGER HAVE THE FAMILIAR KEY KNOCK-OUTS WITH THE KEY CODES IMPRINTED ON THEM. KEY CODES WILL CONTINUE TO BE PRINTED ON THE VEHICLE INVOICE.
SOME 1996 OWNER'S MANUALS CURRENTLY TELL THE OWNER ABOUT A BAR CODED KEY TAG. THIS STATEMENT WILL BE REMOVED. BAR CODED KEY TAGS WERE ORIGINATED FOR ASSEMBLY PLANT USE ONLY, AND WERE NOT INTENDED FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. MOST KEY CUTTERS DO NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO READ THE BAR CODED TAGS, SO THEY ARE OF NO USE FOR MAKING REPLACEMENTS.

GENERAL MOTORS BULLETINS ARE INTENDED FOR USE BY PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIANS, NOT A "DO-IT-YOURSELFER". THEY ARE WRITTEN TO INFORM THOSE TECHNICIANS OF CONDITIONS THAT MAY OCCUR ON SOME VEHICLES, OR TO PROVIDE INFORMATION THAT COULD ASSIST IN THE PROPER SERVICE OF A VEHICLE. PROPERLY TRAINED TECHNICIANS HAVE THE EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND KNOW-HOW TO DO A JOB PROPERLY AND SAFELY. IF A CONDITION IS DESCRIBED, DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE BULLETIN APPLIES TO YOUR VEHICLE, OR THAT YOUR VEHICLE WILL HAVE THAT CONDITION. SEE A GENERAL MOTORS DEALER SERVICING YOUR BRAND OF GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLE FOR INFORMATION ON WHETHER YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENEFIT FROM THE INFORMATION.
