THIS BULLETIN UPDATES SECTION 6B "COOLING AND RADIATOR" OF THE 1994-96 C/K SERVICE MANUALS. THE CURRENT SERVICE MANUAL INFORMATION HAS BEEN CHANGED TO PREVENT BREAKAGE OF THE ENGINE DRIVE BELT TENSIONER WHEN REMOVING AND REPLACING THE DRIVE BELT. THIS BULLETIN APPLIES ONLY TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH DIESEL ENGINES.
DRIVE BELT SERVICE
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT (FIGURE 1)
1. USE A 1/2 INCH BREAKER BAR IN THE SQUARE HOLE PROVIDED IN THE BELT TENSIONER TO ROTATE TENSIONER COUNTERCLOCKWISE AND RELEASE BELT TENSION.
2. BELT.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. ROUTE BELT OVER ALL OF THE PULLEYS EXCEPT THE BELT TENSIONER.
2. USE A 1/2 INCH BREAKER BAR IN THE SQUARE HOLE PROVIDED IN THE BELT TENSIONER TO ROTATE THE TENSIONER COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO THE RELEASED POSITION.
3. BELT OVER TENSIONER PULLEY. SLOWLY ALLOW TENSIONER TO MOVE BACK INTO INSTALLED POSITION.
4. CHECK THE BELT FOR CORRECT "V" GROOVE TRACKING INTO EACH PULLEY.
