Endgate Replacement Pickup

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 264350  Size: SH
  1. Lower the endgate (3) to a horizontal position.
  2. Pull up on the middle of the cable assembly.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, raise the endgate 45 degrees.
  4. Remove the cable (7) on each side from the side panel striker bolts.
  5. Remove the endgate (3) from the right side hinge assembly.
  6. With the aid of an assistant, remove the left hinge assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. With the aid of an assistant, lift the endgate.
  2. Install the endgate (3) to the side panel hinge assemblies holding the gate at a 45 degree angle.

  4. Install the cable on each side onto the side panel striker bolts (5).

Endgate Replacement Utility

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the endgate to a horizontal position.
  2. Remove the torque rod. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod Replacement .
  3. Remove the electrical connector for rear window release.
  4. Support the endgate in a horizontal position with a suitable support.

  5. Remove the support cable bolts and the washers.
  6. Remove the hinge pin clips.
  7. 5.1. Spread the clip in order to move the clip above the recess in the pin.
    5.2. As the pin is removed, the clip will ride on the pin and fall free of the pin.
  8. Remove the hinge pins from the right and the left hinges
  9. Remove the endgate from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the endgate to the vehicle.
  2. Support the endgate in a horizontal position with a suitable support.

  3. Install the hinge pins into the left hinges and the right hinges.
  4. Install the hinge pin clips to the hinge pins.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the support cable bolts and the washers.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the support cable to body bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

  8. Install the electrical connector for rear windows release.
  9. Install the torque rod. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod Replacement .
