Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer
to
Battery Cable
in Engine
Electrical.
- Raise the vehicle and support with safety stands. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in
General Information.
- Remove the transmission from the vehicle.
- Remove the clutch assembly
from the crankshaft if equipped. Refer to
Clutch Assembly Replacement
in Transmission/Transaxle.
- Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft. Refer to
Engine Flywheel Removal
.
- Remove any burrs from the end of the crankshaft.
Installation Procedure
- Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the flywheel
mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (65 lb ft).
- Install the flywheel (manual)
to the crankshaft.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (65 lb ft).
- Install the Clutch to
the flywheel. Refer to
Clutch Assembly Replacement
in Clutch.
- Install the transmission to the vehicle.
- Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Refer to
Battery Cable
in Engine Electrical.
