Subject: | Service VME -- Remote Keyless Entry Inoperative |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Some customers of early built 2003 model year full size pickups and utilities may comment that their remote keyless entry (RKE) system does not function properly, especially on the initial input after an overnight of no use. This could be caused by the passenger door module staying in the sleep mode. If the door is manually unlocked and/or opened, the RKE will begin to work normally.
To correct this concern, reprogram the Passenger Door Module (PDM) using updated software available through GM Access beginning October 7, 2002. The update will be available November 3, 2002 on TIS 2000 CD version 11.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
