Roof Beacon Light Inoperative with the Snow Plow Prep Package (RPO VYU)

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

You may find on a 2003 full size pickup with the Snow Plow Prep Package ( RPO VYU ) that there is no power on circuit number 2340 to the relay for the roof beacon.

If the vehicle was built without the circuit from the UBEC ( Underhood BEC ) to the MBEC (Mid BEC), a wire can installed to correct this concern. Obtain a 1.01 mm (40 in) length of 12 AWG size wire and crimp terminal part number 12110842, available from the J 38125 terminal repair kit, on each end of the wire. Then install the wire from the UBEC connector C1 terminal E11 to the relay block i/p connector C1 terminal D12.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
