When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Effective December 3, 2003, the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) for 2003-2004 Chevrolet Silverado C/K 1500 and GMC Sierra C/K 1500 will be on temporary restriction. The restriction is being conducted in an effort to improve product quality. The part number is as follows:

If the EBCM is in inventory, the technician should still call the PQC at 1-866-654-7654 before replacing the EBCM.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Prior to contacting the PQC, the technician should be prepared to tell what diagnostic information/process they used, what readings they took and what was the value of those readings. The technician may be asked to do some tests or take some readings out of the normal diagnostic process. Additional time for the technician will be allowed for anything above and beyond what is considered the normal diagnostic procedure.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
