Equipped with RPO ML6 6-Speed Manual Transmission

Attention: Service Manager

Some customers with full-size 2500 Series or 3500 Series pickups equipped with RPO ML6, 6-speed manual transmissions may comment on a transmission fluid leak condition where the manual transmission input shaft seal may be the cause of the leak.

GM Powertrain would like to receive product feedback on low mileage vehicles with this condition, prior to any repair attempts. If your Service Department receives a vehicle with this concern, and the vehicle has 12,000 miles or less, please document the customer complaint and verify that the vehicle has not been serviced previously for any transmission issue.

If the repair technician (or other service department diagnostician) confirms that the leak is from the front input shaft seal by using oil dye, please call the GM Technical Assistance Center at 1-877-446-8227 before beginning repair procedures. When a consultant is reached, please ask to reference PI number AI00062 for further instructions.

Do not call after May 31, 2004.
