This bulletin is being revised to add model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 03-07-30-044B (Section 07 - Transmission/Transaxle).


Full service repairs, including internal repairs, can be made to the Allison® 1000 Series automatic transmission installed in the Silverado and Sierra models.

Tech 2®

The Tech 2® will communicate with the Transmission Control Module (TCM) to read and display transmission DTCs and perform interactive tests. TCM calibrations are available to Chevrolet and GMC dealers via the GM Techline Information Systems (TIS).

Cooler Flushing

Important: Refer to Bulletin Number 02-07-30-052D for information and specifications for the proper use of J 45096 for flow testing.

Automatic transmission oil cooler flush tool, J 45096, should be used to flush the transmission oil cooler system. A flow check must be made following the system flush. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Flushing and Flow Test.

Parts to repair these transmissions are available from GMSPO. Part numbers should be obtained from your EPC (Electronic Parts Catalog).
