The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

During normal diagnosis it may be noticed that the passenger air bag connector has 4 circuits but the body side harness only utilizes 2 circuits.

Recommendation/Instructions:

This is a normal condition . Any vehicle classified as "Heavy Duty" (HD) uses a single stage air bag system, but has a dual stage air bag installed. Only the 1st stage of the passenger air bag is utilized during deployment.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
