Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1701838  Size: SH
  1. Remove the cargo cover, the top bows and side struts (2). Refer to Cargo Cover Top Bows Replacement and Cargo Box Cover Strut Replacement .
  2. Remove the troop seats (1). Refer to Seat Replacement - Troop in Seats.

  3. Object Number: 1703179  Size: SH
  4. Remove the 4 bolts and nuts holding the 2 rail adapter plates to the side rail.
  5. Remove the 2 bolts and nuts holding the bow hinge bracket.
  6. Remove the side rail and adapter rail.
  7. Remove the bow hinge bracket.

  9. Remove the side rail.
  10. Remove the side rail adapter.
  11. Drill out the 4 existing rivnuts (if damaged) from the box rail.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1703181  Size: SH
  1. Apply 2 sided foam tape to the underside of the rails and to the edges of the mounting holes.
  2. Install rivnuts to the existing holes (if damaged) using a rivnut installer.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1703179  Size: SH

    Important: Do not use the jacknuts supplied in the kit. Use rivnuts (TX016183) instead.

  4. Install the side rail over the adapter plates, with the 2 outer bolts and the 2 upper facing bracket bolts and nuts.
  5. Tighten

        • Tighten the 2 outer bolts to 26 N·m (19 lb ft).
        • Tighten the 2 upper facing bolts to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  6. Install side rail adapter plates, front and rear, by aligning the bolt holes to the holes in the box.
  7. Install the troop seats (1). Refer to Seat Replacement - Troop in Seats.
  8. Install the side struts, top bows (2) and cargo cover. Refer to Cargo Cover Top Bows Replacement and Cargo Box Cover Strut Replacement .
