The "Hybrid" emblem on some vehicles may be loose or has fallen off during shipping. As a result, some of the subject vehicles will have emblems in the glove box. If emblems are missing from the truck, inspect the vehicle's glovebox for replacement emblems. If the vehicle was shipped prior to having replacement emblems enclosed in the glovebox, the supplier will ship replacement emblems to the dealer at no charge.

To obtain replacement emblems, contact the supplier at the number listed below. It will be necessary to provide the supplier with the VIN, Repair Order Number, Dealer Code/BAC, Dealer Name, Address and Technician name.

The following procedure should be used to install the new emblems:

Removal Procedure (if necessary):

  1. Heat the emblem. Hold a heat gun, J 25070, 152 mm (6.0 in) from the surface.
  2. Apply the heat using a circular motion for approximately 30 seconds.
  3. Notice:  The use of a plastic, flat-bladed tool is required to prevent paint damage when removing the emblem.

  4. Remove the emblem from the door surface using a plastic, flat-bladed tool.
  5. Remove all foam adhesive from the door panel surface using *3M™ Scotch Brite® molding adhesive remover disk, 3M P/N 07501.

Installation Procedure:

  1. Clean the door surface using an isopropyl alcohol and water solution (50/50) or *3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, 3M P/N 08987, to ensure that the surface is free of contaminants such as dust, oils, wax, moisture, etc. Wipe the area where the emblem is to be placed with a *3M Automotive Adhesion Promoter, 3M P/N 06396.
  2. Hold the heat gun, J 25070, 152 mm (6.0 in) from the surface to warm the door to approximately 70°F (21°C).

  4. Using tape, mark the proper position of the emblem on the door (refer to diagram):
  5. Emblem location:

    • 48.5 mm (1.91 in) back from the vertical edge of the door.
    • 67.6 mm (2.66 in) up from the top of the horizontal feature line.
  6. Once the surface of the door has been prepped, while holding the backing of the emblem, hold the heat gun 152 mm (6.0 in) from the emblem and heat the front and back of the emblem using a circular motion for 30 seconds, making the emblem pliable.
  7. Important:  Do not touch the adhesive of the emblem.

  8. Remove the backing from the emblem.
  9. Immediately locate the emblem to the correct position on the door.
  10. Using a roller, apply pressure to the emblem to ensure proper adhesion.
  11. Inspect the emblem for gaps and bonding.
  12. Remove any locating tape from the door and/or emblem.
