The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Transmission fluid leak from the front of the transmission.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Allison engineering has completed their investigation of transmission fluid leaks originating from inside the transmission bell housing. If a vehicle comes into your dealer with a leak from the bell housing area, please add oil dye to the transmission and run it long enough to get the dye to show up before removing the unit. Most likely cause of this leak is pump porosity. Replace the front pump (#5) to correct the leak.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
