Some customers may comment on an increased steering and braking effort. This condition DOES NOT eliminate the ability to steer or slow the vehicle. When the power steering pump no longer provides power assist, steering control reverts to manual steering. Suspect vehicles would continue to comply with the stopping requirements specified in MVSS for vehicles with no power assist.
The cause of this condition may be due to the in-line 125 amp fuse in the 42V electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) pump circuit becoming corroded, resulting in an open circuit.
Replace the in-line 125 amp fuse using service kit, P/N 15833801. Follow the procedure listed below.
