Allison 1000-2400 series automatic transmission installed in these vehicles may only be serviced by franchised Allison transmission dealers. Without an Allison franchise, neither light or medium duty dealers can perform warranty repairs on Allision transmissions in C4500 through C8500 series trucks.
• | The Tech 2 will communicate with the transmission control module (TCM) to read and display any transmission DTCs and perform transmission interactive tests. |
• | Service diagnostics and DTC information is not currently available in SI for the Allision in the C4500 and C5500 vehicles. However, the diagnostic information for the same year Silverado or Sierra equipped with the Allison may be used in its place. |
• | TCM reprogramming or replacement, if necessary, is the warranty responsibility of Allison dealers. |
• | Transmission repairs or replacement, if necessary, is the warranty responsibility of Allison dealers. |
Transmission assemblies are not available from GMSPO.
The following associated repairs may be performed by GM dealers as necessary.
• | Shift lever assembly |
• | Shift cable |
• | Vehicle wiring harness attaching to the transmission |
• | Transmission oil cooler and oil cooler lines |
• | Transmission fill tube and/or indicator |
• | Engine flywheel |
• | Torque converter to flywheel bolts |
