ACCELERATOR PEDAL INOPERATIVE

SUBJECT: ACCELERATOR PEDAL INOPERATIVE (INSTALL NEW CABLE ASSEMBLY)

MODELS: 1994-95 CHEVROLET AND GMC C6/7, B7, P6 MEDIUM DUTY TRUCKS WITH 3116 CATERPILLAR DIESEL ENGINE (RPO LX0)

CONDITION:

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE ACCELERATOR CONTROL IS INOPERATIVE ON THEIR CAT 3116 EQUIPPED MEDIUM DUTY TRUCK.

CAUSE:

THE ACCELERATOR CABLE HAS A FINITE SERVICE LIFE. IT REQUIRES REPLACEMENT AT PERIODIC INTERVALS. RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT INTERVAL IS 100,000 MILES OR THREE YEARS OF SERVICE WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST.

CORRECTION:

REPLACE CABLE ASSEMBLY. CURRENT ACCELERATOR CONTROL CABLES BECAME EFFECTIVE IN PRODUCTION WITH VEHICLES BUILT APPROXIMATELY 7/26/95.
