VAN KENNEDY BLUE BIRD BODY COMPANY P.O. BOX 937 FT. VALLEY, GA 31030
IN RESPONSE TO BLUE BIRD/GM SCHOOL BUS CUSTOMER'S CONCERN OF INADEQUATE INTERIOR HEAT, IT IS NECESSARY TO INSPECT THE ENGINE FAN. IF PART #15574698 FAN WITH A "RED DOT" EXISTS, A WINTER FRONT "CAUTION" LABEL IS REQUIRED. THIS "RED DOT" FAN CAN BE REPLACED WITH PART #15964132 (WHICH WILL HAVE A "GREEN DOT") AND THE "CAUTION" LABEL CAN BE REMOVED. THE ATTACHED TEXT FROM THE GM B7 MEDIUM DUTY CHASSIS OWNER'S MANUAL STILL APPLIES IN CAUTIONING AGAINST THE USE OF RADIATOR GRILLE COVERS.
PARTS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE THROUGH GM SPO.
WE TRUST THAT THIS INFORMATION IS ADEQUATE IN RESOLVING OUR MUTUAL CUSTOMER'S CONCERN.
REGARDING THE USE OF RADIATOR GRILLE COVERS:
WINTER FRONTS OR GRILLE COVERS MAY INCREASE THE STRESS ON THE FAN AS THE BLADES PASS OVER THE COVERED AREAS. IF THIS CAUSES THE FAN TO EVENTUALLY BREAK APART WHILE IT IS ROTATING, THE PIECES CAN CAUSE SEVERE INJURY TO ANYONE NEARBY, SUCH AS A SERVICE PERSON WORKING ON THE ENGINE, AND OF COURSE THE PIECES CAN SEVERLY DAMAGE THE ENGINE ITSELF.
