THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO DESCRIBE THE TWO PACKETS OF SPECIAL GREASE INCLUDED IN THE NEW FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD KIT. PLEASE DISCARD CORPORATE BULLETIN NUMBER 76-50-06 (SECTION 5 - BRAKES) ______________________________________________________________________
A NEW FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD KIT (P/N 97167632) FOR HYDRAULIC FOUNDATION BRAKES IS NOW AVAILABLE. THIS KIT CONTAINS NEW IMPROVED BRAKE PADS, SHIMS, ASSOCIATED MOUNTING HARDWARE AND TWO PACKETS OF SPECIAL GREASE. ONE PACKET CONTAINS A SPECIAL ORANGE COLORED GREASE WHICH IS APPLIED TO THE CALIPER ASSEMBLY SLEEVE, BOOT AND PIN BOOT. THE OTHER PACKET CONTAINS A SPECIAL BLACK ANTI-SEIZE GREASE WHICH IS APPLIED TO THE STEEL PLATES THAT CLIP TO THE BACK SIDE OF THE INNER AND OUTER BRAKE PADS.
WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD KIT, USE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES TO ENSURE MAXIMUM BRAKE PERFORMANCE AND DISC PAD LIFE.
INSPECT RUBBER BOOTS FOR WEAR, DISTORTION, OR DAMAGE; REPLACE AS NEEDED.
DO NOT REVERSE THE INNER AND OUTER BRAKE PADS DURING REASSEMBLY.
AVOID GETTING ANY FOREIGN MATERIAL INTO THE CALIPER ASSEMBLY SLEEVE.
REMOVE ALL OLD GREASE FROM THE CALIPER ASSEMBLY SLEEVE BOOT AND PIN BOOT BEFORE APPLYING THE NEW SPECIAL ORANGE COLORED LUBRICATING GREASE. BE SURE TO USE ONLY THE ORANGE COLORED GREASE ON THE CALIPER ASSEMBLY BOOTS.
APPLY THE SPECIAL BLACK ANTI-SEIZE GREASE EVENLY OVER THE STEEL PLATES THAT CLIP TO THE BACK SIDE OF THE INNER AND OUTER BRAKE PADS. THIS GREASE HELPS TO DAMPEN AUDIBLE HIGH FREQUENCY NOISE GENERATED DURING BRAKING.
REFER TO SECTION 5A2 OF THE APPROPRIATE SERVICE MANUAL FOR FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE.
