SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON UPDATING CURRENT 1996 W4 SERVICE MANUAL

MODELS: 1996-98 CHEVROLET AND GMC W4 MODELS

THE 1997-98 W4 SERVICE MANUAL IS AN UPDATED CARRYOVER OF THE 1996 SERVICE MANUAL (PUBLICATION NO. NPRD-WSM-C0002- 00). THIS BULLETIN CONTAINS INFORMATION TO UPDATE THE CURRENT 1996 SERVICE MANUAL.

THE FOLLOWING PAGES OF THE 1996 W4 SERVICE MANUAL ARE AFFECTED BY THIS BULLETIN:

FRONT COVER SPINE TITLE PAGE

THE FRONT COVER, THE SPINE, AND THE TITLE PAGE WILL BE UPDATED USING ADHESIVE BACKED LABELS. THIS BULLETIN CONTAINS DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING THESE LABELS.

APPLYING COVER AND SPINE UPDATE LABELS

1. TAKE THE LARGE (96/97/98) LABEL AND PEEL THE BACKING AWAY FROM THE LABEL.

2. CAREFULLY POSITION THE LABEL ON THE FRONT OF THE SERVICE MANUAL COVER AND PRESS THE LABEL DOWN. RUB THE LABEL WITH YOUR FINGERS IN ORDER TO BURNISH THE LABEL AND REMOVE ANY AIR POCKETS (FIGURE 1).

3. TAKE THE SMALL (96/97/98) LABEL AND PEEL THE BACKING AWAY FROM THE LABEL.

4. CAREFULLY POSITION THE LABEL ON THE FRONT OF THE SERVICE MANUAL SPINE AND PRESS THE LABEL DOWN. RUB THE LABEL WITH YOUR FINGERS IN ORDER TO BURNISH THE LABEL AND REMOVE ANY AIR POCKETS (FIGURE 2).

APPLYING TITLE PAGE UPDATE LABEL

1. OPEN THE SERVICE MANUAL TO EXPOSE THE TITLE PAGE.

2. TAKE THE LARGE (96/97/98) LABEL AND PEEL THE BACKING AWAY FROM THE LABEL.

3. CAREFULLY POSITION THE LABEL OVER THE TITLE PAGE AND PRESS THE LABEL DOWN. RUB THE LABEL WITH YOUR FINGERS IN ORDER TO BURNISH THE LABEL AND REMOVE ANY AIR POCKETS (FIGURE 3).
