- Disconnect the transmission 20-way connector.
- Install the
J 39775 Jumper Harness on the transmission side of the 20-way connector.
- Start the engine.
- Using the
J 39200 DVOM and the
J 35616-A Connector Test Adapter Kit, measure the resistance between the ground and each terminal N, R, and P.
- Move the gear selector through each gear range.
Does the resistance match the chart?

- Turn the ignition Off
- Install the
J 39775 on the engine side of the 20-way connector.
- Measure the resistance between the ground and each of the engine wiring harness terminals N, R, and P.
Was low resistance measured?

- Disconnect the C3 (clear) VCM connector.
- Recheck the resistance of the vehicle wiring harness from ground to the transmission connector terminals N, R, and P.

| Repair the short on the vehicle wiring harness. Refer to Electrical Diagnosis, Section 8.

- Remove the transmission bottom pan.
- Check the resistance at the transmission 20-way connector terminals while wiggling the internal transmission harness wires to the TFP VAL POSITION SW.
Does the resistance indicate low?
