Under certain circumstances, some customers may comment on an engine low power condition and/or a whistle-type noise coming from the engine area while driving.
The charge air cooler pipe may have become disconnected at the turbocharger compressor housing. There may be insufficient clamping on the rubber hose between the compressor housing and the charge air cooler pipe. When the turbo boost pressure is at maximum, this hose connection can come apart.
Important: When installing the new clamp, position the clamp forward of the bulge and align correctly to maximize the full retaining power. If the clamp is improperly installed, the turbo hose may become disconnected and could cause a repeat condition.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 5 N·m (50 lb in).
Important: When the turbocharger hose connection becomes disconnected, the pressure in the turbo will change, causing oil to be pulled past the housing seal. This is a normal condition and the turbocharger should not be replaced.
