Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement Level Indicator

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Object Number: 258830  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining nuts/bolts for the oil level indicator tube brackets.
  4. Remove the retaining clip securing the oil level indicator tube.
  5. Remove the oil level indicator and tube from the engine block.

  6. Object Number: 276410  Size: SH
  7. Remove the O-ring from the oil level indicator tube.

Installation Procedure

Important: When installing the oil level indicator tube to the engine, always use a new O-ring.


    Object Number: 276410  Size: SH
  1. Install the new O-ring on the oil level indicator tube.
  2. Apply clean engine oil to the oil level indicator tube O-ring.

  3. Object Number: 258830  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the oil level indicator tube with the retaining nuts/bolts to the retaining brackets.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the oil level indicator tube nuts/bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  6. Install the retaining clip.

  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement Oil Fill Tube

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Object Number: 240950  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts (2) from the oil fill tube brackets.
  4. Remove the clamps (4) securing the oil fill tube hose connection (5).
  5. Remove the forward oil fill tube section (6).
  6. Remove the hose connection (5).
  7. Remove the oil fill tube section (3) from the intake manifold by gently turning the tube end (1).

Installation Procedure

Important: When installing the oil fill tube to the engine, seat it completely prior to installing the bracket retaining bracket bolts.

  1. Install the tube section (3) to the intake manifold.
  2. Install the hose section (5) with clamps (4) to sections (3) and (6).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the tube retaining bolts (2) to the brackets.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the tube retaining bracket bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal.   6. Connect the negative battery cable.
