Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with suitable safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the line fittings at the engine.

  5. Remove the safety clips at the oil cooler line retaining nuts.
  6. Disconnect the oil cooler line retaining nuts.
  7. Remove the oil cooler lines (1) and (2) from the retaining support clips.
  8. Remove the lines from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lines (1) and (2) into the vehicle, route through the retaining support blocks, and position in place.
  2. Secure the support blocks onto the lines.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Connect the lines to the engine oil cooler.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Install the line retaining nut safety clips.
  7. Important: You should hear a distinct snap when you assemble the tube fitting to the quick connector. Make sure that the tube fitting fully inserts into the quick connector. Check this by giving a forceful pull to the fitting.

  8. Connect the lines to the fittings at the engine block.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
