Problem

Action

The steering linkage needs lubrication.

Lubricate at the recommended intervals. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.

The shock absorber is loose.

Tighten the bolts. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications in Front Suspension.

The shock absorber has worn bushings.

Replace the shock absorber. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement in Front Suspension.

The wheel bearings are loose or worn.

Adjust the wheel bearings. Refer to Wheel Bearing Adjustment in Front Suspension.

Replace the wheel bearings as needed. Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.

The stabilizer shaft is loose.

Tighten all of the stabilizer shaft attachments. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications in Front Suspension.

The wheel nuts are loose.

Tighten the wheel nuts. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications in Tires and Wheels.

The spring is improperly positioned.

Reposition the spring.

The suspension bolts are loose.

  1. Tighten the fasteners to specifications.
  2. Replace the fasteners as needed.

The king pins and bushings are worn.

Replace the bushings and the king pins. Refer to Steering Knuckle and King Pin Replacement in Front Suspension.
