The P12 Series Motor Home chassis uses a Dana/Spicer S135-S single speed axle.

Single-speed rear axles are made of two main components: the rear axle housing and the differential carrier assembly. The banjo-type axle housing carries the weight of the vehicle and provides a machined spindle surface for the wheel bearings. The rear hubs rotate on the rear wheel bearings, allowing the axle shafts to float within the axle housing.

The purpose of the differential carrier assembly is to change the driving force 90 degrees from the propeller shaft and to allow the rear wheels to turn at different speeds. The differential carrier assembly consists of a drive pinion, input yoke, ring gear, differential gears, and all related bearings. The complete differential carrier assembly can be removed from the vehicle without removing the axle housing assembly.

For overhaul information of the Dana/Spicer differential carrier assembly, contact the Spicer® Support Line at 1-800-666-8688.
