For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Inspect the inside of the caliper assembly for signs of fluid leakage. If any leakage is found, overhaul the caliper as outlined in Brake Caliper Overhaul .
  2. Inspect the mounting bolts and sleeves for corrosion. Replace any corroded bolts and sleeves. Do not attempt to polish away the corrosion.

  3. Object Number: 241592  Size: SH
  4. Measure the clearance between the caliper and steering knuckle. The clearance at each end of the caliper should be measured individually and added together. This total should be 0.26-0.60 mm (0.010-0.024 in). If clearance is excessive, refer to Brake Caliper/Mounting Plate Wear Adjustment .

  5. Object Number: 22105  Size: SH
  6. Inspect the piston seal for leaks and brake fluid around the dust boot, the heat shield, and the inboard brake pad.
  7. Inspect the dust boots for any damage. If you find damage, overhaul the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Overhaul .
  8. Inspect the support rail surfaces on the brake caliper.
  9. Inspect the support rail surfaces on the caliper mounting plate.
  10. Inspect the heat shields. Replace the shields if loose.
  11. Inspect under the dust boots for leakage.
  12. Overhaul the caliper if leakage is found. Refer to Brake Caliper Overhaul .
