Problem

Action

The tire pressure is low.

Inflate the tires to the specified pressure. Refer to Tire Inflation Description in Tires and Wheels.

A lack of lubrication in the suspension or ball joint (worn/contaminated joints).

Lubricate and relubricate at the proper intervals or replace the joints. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.

There is a binding in the steering linkage.

Replace any affected parts.

There is a misalignment of the steering gear to the column.

Align the steering column.

The power steering fluid is low.

Add an adequate amount of power steering fluid. Inspect the lines and the joints for any external leakage.

High internal leakage exists in the steering gear or in the pump.

Refer to Power Steering System Test Procedure .

Misalignment of the front wheels.

Check and adjust the front wheel alignment to specifications.
