Tools Required
J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

1. Remove the tilt lever assembly. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .



2. Remove the two pan head tapping screws (1) from the lower shroud (2).
3. Remove the lower shroud (2).



4. Remove the two torx head screws (1) from the upper shroud (2).
5. Remove the upper shroud (2).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. Assemble the upper shroud (2) and secure by using two torx head screws (1).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).




2. Assemble the lower shroud (2) and secure by using two pan head tapping screws (1).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

3. Assemble the tilt lever assembly. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
