Locate and repair the source of the overload in CKT 39 (PNK) between the instrument cluster connector, cavity 22 and the GAUGES fuse, cavity J 7.

Inspect G 102.

Is it clean and tight?

Repair G 102 as necessary.

Connect a test light from the GAUGES fuse, cavity H 8 to ground.

Did the test light illuminate?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 3 (PNK) between the ignition switch connector, cavity C 5 and the GAUGES fuse, cavity H 8.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Connect a test light from the instrument cluster connector, cavity 22 to ground.

Did the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 10

Locate and repair the open in CKT 39 (PNK) between the instrument cluster connector, cavity 22 and the GAUGES fuse, cavity J 7.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Connect a test light from the instrument cluster connector, cavity 31 to B +.

Did the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 17

Locate and repair the open in CKT 451 (BLK/WHT) between the instrument cluster connector, cavity 31 and G 102.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

  1. Measure the voltage at the battery terminals with a J 39200 .
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Observe the voltmeter in the instrument cluster.

Is the voltage indicated by the instrument cluster voltmeter the same as the voltage indicated by the J 39200?

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  3. Connect a J 39200 from the instrument cluster connector, cavity 22 to ground.
  4. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.

Is the voltage at cavity 22 the same as the voltage at the battery terminals?

Repair the high resistance condition in CKT 39 (PNK) between the instrument cluster connector, cavity 22 and the ignition switch connector, cavity C 5.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  3. Use a J 39200 to measure the resistance between the instrument cluster connector, cavity 31 and ground.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

1.0 ohms

Repair the high resistance in CKT 451 (BLK/WHT) between the instrument cluster connector, cavity 31 and G 102.

Is the repair complete?
