Removal Procedure
- Remove the nylon straps
retaining the wheel speed sensor wire to the brake hose. In some repair operations,
wheel speed sensor removal is required. Refer to
Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement
.
- Remove the hose bracket bolts and the washers.
Important: Clean the dirt, the grease and the foreign particles from the hose fittings
at both ends before removing the front brake hose.
- Remove the hose fitting from the caliper.
- Disconnect the steel pipe(s) from the hose junction block.
- Bend the steel pipe(s) in a backward position in order to clear
the junction block. Cap the steel pipes.
- Remove the nut(s) and
the front brake hose(s) after disconnecting the brake pipe.
Installation Procedure
- Ensure that the plugged
side of the junction block faces the rear of the vehicle in order to install
the hose into the frame hole.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the brake
hose nut(s).
Tighten
Tighten the front brake hose nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the brake pipe(s).
Tighten
Tighten the pipe fitting(s) to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Ensure that the hose is
not twisted in order to properly install the hose fitting to the caliper.
- Install the hose bracket washer(s) and the bolt(s).
Tighten
• | Tighten the hose fitting to 19 N·m (14 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the mounting bolts to 30 N·m (23 lb ft). |
- Install the nylon straps retaining the wheel speed sensor wire
to the brake hose. In some repair operations, wheel speed sensor installation
is required. Refer to
Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement
.
- Bleed the brakes. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
