Important: Assemble all of the components and remove all of the jacks and lifting
devices before you tighten the suspension fasteners.
- Install the spring.
- Install the rear eye bolt and nut.
2.1. | Raise the axle and the tie rod in order to support the spring. |
2.2. | Install the spring spacers and the U-bolt spacers on the spring. |
2.3. | Align the spring center bolt to the axle. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the front
eye bolt and nut.
Tighten
Tighten the eye bolts to 330 N·m (243 lb ft).
- Install the U-bolts and
the nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the U-bolt nuts to 400 N·m (295 lb ft).
- Install the flat washer
and the insulator onto
the shock absorber lower stem.
- Install the shock absorber into the lower mounting bracket .
- Install the following components:
Tighten
Tighten the lower shock absorber nut to 84 N·m (62 lb ft).
- Remove the safety stands.
- Lower the vehicle.
