Shift Lever Replacement - On Vehicle Column Shift

1. Remove the pivot pin from the shift bowl assembly.
2. Remove the shift lever from the shift bowl assembly.
3. Carefully remove the spring. Do not lose the spring or the insulator.



4. Remove the insulator from the shift lever.
5. Remove the grip from the shift lever.

1. Install the grip on the shift lever.
2. Install the insulator into the shift lever.



3. Install the spring into the column.
4. Install the shift lever over the spring. If problems occur, a shim may be used as a guide.
5. Install the shift lever.
6. Install the pivot pin.

•	Remove the shim.

•	After the shift lever is installed, check all positions for the positive engagement of the shift gate.
