Replace the lock cylinder.

The ignition switch is faulty.

Replace the ignition switch.

The rack preload spring is broken or weak.

Replace the spring.

There are burrs on the following items:

Remove the burrs.

The sector shaft is bent.

Replace the shaft.

The rack is distorted.

Replace the rack.

The housing to the cover is misaligned.

Replace the housing, if necessary. Replace the cover, if necessary.

The coupling slot in the rack is distorted.

Replace the rack.

The actuator rod is bent or restricted.

Straighten or replace the rod.

The ignition switch mounting bracket is bent.

Straighten or replace the bracket.
