SOME HYDRA-MATIC 4L80-E/4L80-EHD SRTA TRANSMISSIONS BUILT BETWEEN MAY 5, 1992 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 29, 1992 (8687902 MODEL 1DPP SERIAL NUMBERS 6093-11015 AND 8687927 MODEL 2DPP SERIAL NUMBERS 11725-12493) AND SHIPPED TO GMSPO MAY EXHIBIT THE SHIFT LEVER STUCK IN PARK OR DIFFICULT TO SHIFT. VEHICLES SERVICED WITH THE ABOVE TRANSMISSIONS MAY EXHIBIT THIS CONDITION.
THESE TRANSMISSIONS WERE ASSEMBLED WITH A PARKING LOCK PAWL WHICH IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE ON P TRUCK APPLICATIONS RATED 16,000 POUNDS GVW. THOSE VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC APPLY DRUM BRAKE PARK SYSTEM ON THE DRIVE TRAIN TO RETAIN THE VEHICLE. THE DRUM BRAKE IS THE ONLY PARK MECHANSIM DESIGNED FOR THIS SPECIFIC GVW.
REPLACE UNIT WITH A SRTA (SERVICE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY).
