Removal Procedure
- Evacuate the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling,
Adding Oil, Evacuating and Recharging Procedures, HVAC with A/C Manual,
in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
Important: Cap or plug all of the open connections in order to prevent contamination.
- Disconnect the compressor and condenser hose at the condenser.
- Disconnect the compressor and condenser hose from the accumulator.
- Remove the bolt from the top of the compressor.
- Remove the following hose assemblies from the vehicle:
- Remove the O-ring seals from the ends of the hoses.
Installation Procedure
- Install new O-ring seals into the ends of the hoses.
- Coat the O-ring seals with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
- Install the compressor and condenser hose assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the bolt to the top of the compressor.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Connect the compressor and condenser hose to the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Connect the following hose assemblies to the condenser:
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 27.5 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling,
Adding Oil, Evacuating and Recharging Procedures in HVAC Systems With A/C
Manual, 1999 C/K Service Manual.
- Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing in HVAC Systems
With A/C Manual, 1999 C/K Service Manual.
