Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative
battery cable.
- Evacuate the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling,
Adding Oil, Evacuating and Recharging Procedures, HVAC with A/C Manual, in
the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
- Remove the screw connecting the accumulator to the evaporator housing.
- Disconnect the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe
from the accumulator.
Important: Cap or plug all of the open connections in order to prevent contamination.
- Remove the accumulator from the vehicle.
- Remove the O-ring seals from the accumulator pipes.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new O-ring seals into the accumulator
pipes.
- Coat the O-ring seals using 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
- Install the accumulator into the vehicle.
- Connect the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe to the
accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the screw connecting the accumulator to the evaporator housing.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling,
Adding Oil, Evacuating and Recharging Procedures, HVAC with Manual A/C, in
the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
