Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Evacuate the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Recharging Procedures, HVAC with A/C Manual, in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.

  3. Object Number: 282344  Size: SH
  4. Remove the screw connecting the accumulator to the evaporator housing.

  5. Object Number: 276438  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe from the accumulator.
  7. Important: Cap or plug all of the open connections in order to prevent contamination.

  8. Remove the accumulator from the vehicle.
  9. Remove the O-ring seals from the accumulator pipes.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 276438  Size: SH
  1. Install the new O-ring seals into the accumulator pipes.
  2. Coat the O-ring seals using 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  3. Install the accumulator into the vehicle.
  4. Connect the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe to the accumulator.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  6. Install the screw connecting the accumulator to the evaporator housing.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Recharging Procedures, HVAC with Manual A/C, in the 1999 C/K Service Manual.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
