Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disable the SIRS System in Supplemental Inflatable Restraints, 1999 C/K Service Manual.
  2. Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel.

    3. Object Number: 276619 Size: SH
  3. Remove the nuts from the lower steering column support bracket.

    4. Object Number: 276681 Size: SH
  4. Remove the nuts from the upper steering column support bracket.
  5. Lower the steering column.

    6. Object Number: 276694 Size: SH
  6. Remove the transfer case switch from the instrument panel cluster trim panel.
  7. Remove the screws above the instrument panel cluster.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the instrument panel switch plate.
  9. Remove the instrument panel switch plate.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the instrument panel switch plate.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors to the instrument panel switch plate.

    3. Object Number: 276694 Size: SH
  3. Install the screws above the instrument panel cluster.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel cluster trim panel screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  4. Install the transfer case switch in the instrument panel cluster trim panel.
  5. Raise the steering column.

    6. Object Number: 276681 Size: SH
  6. Install the upper steering column support bracket with the nuts.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the steering column support bracket nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb in).


    Object Number: 276619 Size: SH
  7. Install the lower steering column support bracket with the nuts.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the steering column support bracket nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb in).

  8. Install the instrument panel lower trim panel.
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling SIRS System in Supplemental Inflatable Restraints, 1999 C/K Service Manual.
