POWER STEERING PUMP VIBRATION MISSING SUPPORT BRACKET

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1984-85 C/K 2, 3 With 5.7L LT9 Engines and Air Conditioning

Some 1984-85 C/K 2, 3 Series trucks equipped with the 5.7L LT9 engine and air conditioning may experience a power steering pump vibration with the air conditioning on. This vibration may be felt in the steering wheel and the dash panel area.

If this condition is encountered, the power steering pump should be inspected to see if the rear support bracket is missing (see Figure No. 1).

If the rear support bracket, P/N 14082318, is missing, it should be installed to correct the vibration condition.

Refer to Section 3B7 of the Light Duty Service Manual for the proper removal and installation instructions of the power steering pump.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
