Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement for Chevrolet Chevy Suburban - 2WD 1999
Removal Procedure
- Remove the upper radiator shroud from the radiator.
Refer to
Fan Shroud Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the drive belt from the drive pulleys. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
- Remove the a/c idler pulley bracket from the accessory bracket
(non A/C only).
- Remove the drive belt
idler pulley and bolt.
Installation Procedure
- Install the drive belt
idler pulley to the mounting bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the drive
belt idler pulley bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the A/C idler pulley to the A/C idler
pulley bracket (non A/C only).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 83 N·m (61 lb ft).
- Install the drive belt on the drive pulleys. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
- Install the upper radiator shroud on the radiator. Refer to
Fan Shroud Replacement
in Engine
Cooling.
