Battery positive voltage is supplied to the power sunroof from the CTSY LP fuse located in the Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block. This circuit is used for the memory of the control module. Ignition/battery voltage is supplied from the RAP 2 relay and PWR WDO circuit breaker. The RAP and RAP 2 relay(s) are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Circuit Description in Retained Accessory Power. Ground is supplied by G200.

Important: After a power loss to the sunroof control module the sunroof must be initialized. Refer to Sunroof Motor Synchronization .

If there are DTCs present associated to the RAP relay circuit they can effect the operation of the sunroof. Refer to Retained Accessory Power for further diagnosis.

The sunroof is operated by a bi-directional motor. The motor drives the sunroof to the slide closed position and raises the sunroof to the vent position when the following actions occur:

    • Voltage is supplied to one terminal of the motor.
    • Ground is supplied to the other terminal of the motor.

The sunroof lowers from the vent position and slides open when voltage and ground to terminals are reversed.

The motor is equipped with a manual drive capability. A hex head wrench inserted at the center of the motor may be used to drive the sunroof through the entire range of travel. Mechanical stops are proved in the following positions:

    • The vent direction
    • The open direction

The sunroof module is equipped with a timer circuit which stops the operation of the sunroof motor after 15 seconds.
